As a shy kid who occasionally craved attention, Judy Haines-Hricik would often show off her “talents” by belting a song when her parents’ friends would visit. As she grew older, she developed an interest for the piano and took traditional piano lessons for less than a year until impatience took over. Soon thereafter, Judy learned how to play three chords from a friend, began studying sheet music, and taught herself how to develop different chord types. Throughout high school, summer vacations turned into endless days on the piano and songwriting exploration. Live performing began in a contemporary church where Judy became the primary musician. It was the beginning of a music career dream for this self-taught pianist, singer, and songwriter.
Life happened. The piano lay silent for 8 years. Although the dream didn’t surface, it still remained until it was time to pursue this passion once more. Judy started playing in church again and also sought new opportunities. She played with a duo and then a band, learning many different types of music across genres before finally settling into happiness as a singer-songwriter.
The last several years were spent developing her craft as a singer, songwriter, performer, and recording artist. Judy’s new album, “Chasing Trains”, brings out her passion, love for rock music, and gospel roots. The album is a journey of life – falling in love, being in love, dealing with pain, change, transition, and reaching milestones. Eleven songs cross genres in a refreshing and pleasing way, mixing pop rock, blues, country, and gospel. Check out the album at judyhaines.com and take a journey with Judy Haines, “Chasing Trains”!
